On Thursday, May 16th, you received an email containing a link to a survey of the SIUE Alumni Association and its services. If you have not already, please complete the survey at your earliest convenience. It takes about 10 minutes to complete, but the feedback you give will impact the SIUE Alumni Association on many levels.
The School of Education graduated its first class of students earning the doctor of education (EdD). Through the EdD program, these graduates developed the expertise to use research to make system-wide changes that benefit all students within the school district.
According to Dean Bette Bergeron, the EdD is SIUE's only research doctorate, making this a first for the University as well as for the School. "Housing a doctorate within the School of Education reflects the high caliber of our faculty and programs along with our commitment to developing leaders for our region."
This month, the Alumni Association is hitting the road and hosting Happy Hour in two locations.

Thirty minutes of networking will follow the presentation. Admission is $10; SIUE students attend free.
Join Us at the Muny for Exclusive Access to Monty Python's Spamalot
What better way to connect with your fellow SIUE alumni than by enjoying Spamalot, the show that's been called "the most infectiously funny musical of the millennium?" Enjoy discounted tickets and a backstage tour of the Muny Friday, June 21 at 6 p.m.
Get a new view of the Muny on a backstage tour and bring your favorite snack for a picnic before the show. Then laugh and marvel at the humor and wonder of Monty Python's Spamalot, the Tony Award-winning musical that tells the story of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table.
Join us for one of our most popular events, the Cardinals vs. Cubs game at Busch Stadium in St. Louis. Alumni will meet at 11:30 a.m. for lunch at Carmine’s Steak House across from the Stadium, and walk together to the Stadium for the 1:15 p.m. game.
Tickets include seats in the left field box section 169 or 170, and lunch from Carmine’s. Tickets are discounted at $50 for lifetime/premium members and $55 for basic members (face value of tickets for game is $63).
Jeff Skoblow Selected for the Alumni Association "Great Teacher Award"
The SIUE Alumni Association has selected Dr. Jeffrey Skoblow as its 2013 Great Teacher Award recipient. He is a professor of English Language and Literature in the College of Arts and Sciences. Skoblow is the 45th SIUE faculty member to receive the honor since its inception in 1970.
“Jeffrey is one of the most student-centered professors I’ve ever known,” said Sharon James McGee, associate professor and chair of the Department of English Language and Literature. “As a mentor, he is concerned first and foremost with students’ progress and success. He is every student’s biggest cheerleader. He wants every student to do well and succeed both in school and in their lives beyond the University.”
