All SIUE Alumni Association members are invited to attend the annual meeting.

The agenda includes:
- Presentation of 2014-2015 scholarships
- Welcoming of new board members and officers
- Approval of the FY15 budget

School of Business Celebrates Enterprise Holdings Leadership Awards

The School of Business recently held a reception to recognize the winners of three Enterprise Holdings leadership awards. Steve Talbott, with Enterprise Holdings, presented the awards to:

  • Student Organization Advisor of the Semester: Dr. Andrea Hester, associate professor of CMIS
  • Student Organization of the Semester: Beta Alpha Psi, the national honorary accounting society
  • Student Organization Leader of the Semester Award: MBA student Anni Huang, of Maryville

Old Dutch Classic Bats is Metro East Startup Challenge Winner

A vintage baseball bat manufacturer and a grain-to-glass distiller captured first and second place in the Metro East Startup Challenge, the first regional business plan competition conducted for entrepreneurs in Southwestern Illinois.

Plucked from a diverse array of Metro East startups, sole proprietor Todd "Dutch" Eschman, founder of Old Dutch Classic Bats in Swansea, nabbed the $10,000 first prize. Adam Stumpf, president and CEO of Stumpy's Spirits Co., secured second place and $5,000. The SIUE Metro East Start-Up Challenge is designed to recognize and reward excellence in entrepreneurship.

Homecoming 2014

Show your Cougar pride during the SIUE Men's Soccer tailgate and game on Saturday, Oct. 4.

The SIUE Alumni Association will host a hospitality tent for our returning alumni and friends during the tailgate and game.

Jacks Named School of Business Professor of the Year

Dr. Tim Jacks, assistant professor of CMIS, was named the School of Business Professor of the Year by the student organization Emerging Leaders Improving Through Experience (ELITE).

He was one of 51 faculty members from the School of Business nominated for the award, which recognizes outstanding faculty who contribute to students' academic growth.

School of Business Student Named SIUE Student Government Senator of the Year

Madeline McCune, a sophomore in the School of Business, is the 2014 recipient of Senator of the Year Award. The award is presented annually to a student senator who demonstrates excellence, goes above and beyond their duties, and serves as a strong advocate and role model for students.

McCune was selected for the award by Nasir Almasri, 2013-14 student body vice president and 2014-15 president-elect. She is majoring in business administration and considering a minor in mass communications.


St. Louis PrideFest 2014: You're Invited

SIUE Safe Zone invites SIUE alumni and families to volunteer at the Safe Zone booth and walk with Safe Zone in the parade during PrideFest 2014.

Great Teacher Award

Applications for the 2014 Great Teacher Award are now being accepted. The Great Teacher Award was established in 1970 by the SIUE Alumni Association. Each year, an SIUE faculty member is recognized for their continuous excellence in teaching. Each recipient receives a $1,000 award and a commemorative plaque. In addition, each recipient's name is engraved on the Great Teacher Award plaque displayed at Birger Hall. The award is presented during the December commencement. What are your kids doing this summer?

SIUE offers a variety of summer camps full of learning and fun for kids. Campers can choose from academic camps in science, Spanish, theater and dance, writing, or sports camps in men's and women's soccer, softball, volleyball, men's and women's basketball, and strength and conditioning.
