SIUE Alumni Day at Busch Stadium

Join us at the ballpark on Sunday, April 27, for SIUE Alumni Day at Busch Stadium!

We will meet for lunch at Carmine's Steakhouse at 11:30 a.m. Then we will head over to Busch Stadium for the 1:15 p.m. game as the Cardinals take on the Pirates.

The SIUE seats will be in sections 129, 130 and 131 in the lower right field boxes. See you there!

Strides of Excellence
School of Education Launches Homework Hotline

Students in grades 6-8 can call the SIUE Homework Hotline and receive free help with their math homework. The hotline is staffed by SIUE students majoring in education, mathematics, engineering and business.

The hotline is the result of a collaboration between SIUE Department of Curriculum and Instruction faculty and the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers Foundation.

Arbor Day in The Gardens at SIUE

Join us for an SIUE Alumni Association volunteer event on campus as we make our mark on The Gardens at SIUE. We will plant several trees to replace those that were damaged during last year's storms.

Meet at 1 p.m. in The Gardens

Wear your favorite SIUE gear to help us welcome spring and celebrate being Cougars. Due to the nature and size of this project, group size is limited. We will accept volunteers in the order in which they register. Thank you for your willingness to help our campus.

School of Education Student Receives Hammonds Memorial Scholarship

Elementary education major Candace Perkins received the Dr. Cleveland Hammonds Jr. Memorial Scholarship at the 54th Anniversary Alumni Celebration & Awards Showcase of the Mathews-Dickey Boys' and Girls' Club of St. Louis.

Hammonds was a former SIUE instructor and past superintendent of St. Louis Public Schools. Perkins is the third SIUE student to receive the annual scholarship, established in 2012 for undergraduates in the Teacher Education program.

The Meridian Society invites all SIUE alumnae for lunch and an exciting afternoon of racing at the popular spring event:

The Meridian Derby: A Race for Women in Philanthropy

Derby attire - hats encouraged!

The Meridian Society is an SIUE women's giving organization creating leadership opportunities for women through philanthropy. Through pooled resources, the Society funds projects that provide service in the SIUE community.

This event is free for Meridian Society members ($20 for non-members).

Homecoming 2014 Committee Members Needed

The Office of Alumni Affairs is looking for Homecoming Committee members to represent the diverse community of SIUE graduates to assist in the planning of 2014 Homecoming Weekend (October 3-5).

Lovejoy Library Trivia Night

The Friends of Lovejoy Library are hosting their first-ever Trivia Night. The evening will feature 10 rounds of general knowledge trivia created by the Keepers of the Flame of Knowledge. There will also be a silent auction and attendance prizes consisting of a number of signed books and magazines.

Lovejoy Library, 2nd Floor

Tables of eight can be purchased for $150, and individuals may attend for $20 per person. There will be cash prizes and trophies for the winning team. Please feel free to bring your own snacks. Soft drinks and water will be provided, and there will be a cash bar.

SIUE Alumni Hall of Fame

Nominations are now being sought for the 2014 class of the SIUE Alumni Hall of Fame. Hall of Fame members:

  • Have achieved outstanding success in their chosen field
  • Have demonstrated a commitment to their community and our alma mater
  • Reflect positively on SIUE alumni and our University

We will induct the Class of 2014 on Friday, Oct. 3, as part of Homecoming Weekend.

Strategic Plan Unveiled

After a collaborative effort involving the University community, the new strategic plan to provide direction for SIUE going forward has been unveiled by the Office of the Chancellor.

SIUE Rooftop Vegetable Garden Seeks Crowdfunding Support

An SIUE collaborative research team needs your help to establish a vegetable garden on the patio rooftop of the Morris University Center.

Faculty and student researchers plan to use "green roof" technology for a sustainable approach to stormwater management and energy consumption, while studying the effects of using a waste product in a growth medium.

The garden will provide learning and job experiences for both graduate and undergraduate students.
