SIUE Alumni Event Ambassadors
The Alumni Association is proud to announce a new volunteer opportunity for SIUE alumni - Alumni Event Ambassadors.  Through the Ambassadors program, alumni can join the members of the SIUE Alumni Association Board of Directors in networking with other alumni attendees during upcoming events.  As an Event Ambassador volunteer, you would: commit to attending your selected event; personally invite and/or bring alumni guests to the event; greet attendees, help distribute door prizes and fulfill any additional volunteer needs at the event.  All Ambassadors will be featured on the event webpage and will be introduced during the welcome announcements.  If you are interested in volunteering as an Event Ambassador, please send an e-mail to kabenne@siue.edu.  Click here to view the list of our upcoming events.

 
SIUE Alumni Networking Breakfasts
Join the SIUE Alumni Association for our upcoming SIUE Alumni Networking Breakfasts:
  • Tuesday, July 27 - Granite City, IL - Jonathan Ferry is a 2005 and 2008 graduate from the School of Business.  He is currently the Economic Development Director for the City of Granite City. 
  • Wednesday, August 25 - Highland, IL - Alberto Friedmann is a 2003 graduate from the School of Education. He is the coach of the U.S. Martial Arts Team.

Whitaker Music Festival
Join the Alumni Association for the live performance of Peter Mayer during the 2010 Whitaker Music Festival at the Missouri Botanical Garden. The free concert of "Beyond Abbey Road," a collection of classic Beatles tunes, starts at 7:30pm on Wednesday, July 21. Attendees will enjoy complimentary cheese and crackers and a glass of wine. Acting Dean Gupchup
The School of Pharmacy is pleased to announce that Dr. Gireesh Gupchup will serve as Acting Dean after Phil Medon's retirement.  Dr. Gupchup would like to share the following letter with SOP alumni and friends.

STAT Visits Kansas City
The student officers and board members of STAT - Students Today, Alumni Tomorrow - are traveling to a conference in Kansas City, Mo. in August and the Alumni Association is hosting a dinner for Kansas City area alumni on Thursday, August 5 at Jack Stack's BBQ.  Click here for more information.  

 
Consensus Recommendations Endorsed
The advisory board of the Pharmacy Pain and Palliative Care Summit, conducted last fall by the SIUE School of Pharmacy, released its 40-page list of recommendations about how to enhance pain management training for pharmacists. The recommendations have been endorsed by the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. The recommendations were unveiled at the 29th Annual Scientific Meeting of the American Pain Society.

 
SOP Minority Summer Camp
For the second year, the SIUE School of Pharmacy conducted a Minority Summer Camp June 7-9. Sixteen students from Collinsville and Belleville West High School participated and members of our Student National Pharmaceutical Association (SNPhA) served as mentors. The camp was supported by a “diversity initiatives” contribution from Walgreens.

 
Six Students Attend Conferece
Six SIUE SOP students were educated on the health and social problems of alcoholism and other drug dependencies at the University of Utah School on Alcoholism and Other Drug Dependencies. Two students, Elizabeth Kunz and Ashley Chumley, received tuition and travel support from the Illinois Bureau of Pharmacy and Clinical Support Services.
